Clothes that know how and when to keep wearers warm
French startup clim8 is an intelligent thermal technology startup creating clothing that knows how and when to keep its wearers warm.
clim8 uses tiny sensors in their clothing to monitor the wearer’s skin temperature as well as outside temperatures and air humity. It also has special heating components weaved into the yarn of the clothing so they can’t be seen. When the comfort temperature drop, the sensors activate the heating components to warm the fabric just as much as necessary. Wearers can also override the sensors using an app.
“The need for intelligent clothing has been obvious for a long time,” says Florian Miguet, CEO of clim8. “People want stay warm when it’s too cold and cool when it’s too warm. And that’s why we are here. As everyone has a different sensibility to cold, (this is) a solution which is truly personalized and adapted to everyone specificity. It’s a shirt which allows your body to always stay at the right temperature – regardless of the weather or what activity you are doing.”
