Converting Bikes
Convert any bike into an ebike
The UK’s longest running index of disruptive new startups, the Startups 100, has released its 2020 lineup, and Swytch Technology has been listed at number 25.
Swytch co-founder Oliver Montague came up with the concept of converting ordinary bikes into eBikes using a Swytch kit. He and Co-founder Dmitro Khroma believe that 99% of the 1.1 billion bicycles in the world can be converted using their invention.
They claim their Swytch kit is lighter, smaller and more affordable than anything else out there. It is also very sustainable - to manufacture a regular bike uses over 200kg of CO2 during manufacturing and a heavy eBike is double that. A Swytch eBike kit takes just 50Kg of CO2 to manufacture.
After creating the first prototype, Oliver patented the drawings and schematics and launched on Indiegogo raising over $500,000. They used this to develop, manufacture and distribute over 3,000 eBike kits to over 45 countries in the world.
