Israeli Startups
Israel has one of the largest concentrations of start-up businesses in the world
Israel has one of the largest concentrations of start-up businesses in the world, one for every 1400 people. Much of this success has been put down to the military training undertaken by so many of the country’s young people. When they reach 18, all Israeli men and women have to enter public service - and many go into the armed services where they learn many skills that transfer well to starting a business.
Jerusalem has many entrepreneurs, investors and tech workers, but most commute to work at Startups in Israel’s central tech hub of Tel Aviv and Herzliya. As a result, reports say that Israel has some of the worst traffic congestion in the West. Tel Aviv has almost 2,000 startups, compared with just 360 in Jerusalem, but things are changing. Growing tech opportunities within Jerusalem itself are beginning to offer alternatives to the daily commute.
